I think the numbers in the Hopper book already take account of the fact that some many units were below strength in this campaign, i.e. the average sized Austrian unit in this battle and many other such cases in other battles. Not sure on what decisions those are based, but you're right it could be an interesting hypothetical to try out smaller units, perhaps with the bigger area as you say.Chasseurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04919997382932080898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-8428717413878143952019-11-22T21:54:04.470+13:002019-11-22T21:54:04.470+13:00Oops, scenario . . .Oops, scenario . . .Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13300265806211901729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-68691948135503647302019-11-22T21:53:32.566+13:002019-11-22T21:53:32.566+13:00It could mean allowing the Austrian some tactical ...It could mean allowing the Austrian some tactical options that you denied them in your scenanrio.

Cheers,
John EdmundsonJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13300265806211901729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-46577942517561058572019-11-22T21:51:26.429+13:002019-11-22T21:51:26.429+13:00Hi Mark,
One thing I often think about is the fact...Hi Mark,
One thing I often think about is the fact that these "large" Austrian battalions were often well below strength. When you look at the numbers for the Danube and, from memory, the Italian campaign they are often no bigger than the French battalions, or at least no bigger than the theoretical strength of the French battalions. This is often even true for the Hungarian battalions that were supposed to be about 120 men stronger. I would expect that this would be true in the Polish theatre too. If you reduced the Austrian battalions to average strength instead of large, that would mean the forces were more closely balanced, which might be an interesting thing to consider.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13300265806211901729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-49745423339179724642019-11-22T08:16:52.517+13:002019-11-22T08:16:52.517+13:00Thank you Lawrence!Thank you Lawrence!Chasseurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04919997382932080898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-91099990349400913882019-11-21T23:41:14.722+13:002019-11-21T23:41:14.722+13:00A nice run-through with the different sets of rule...A nice run-through with the different sets of rules, and it was especially good seeing your Poles in action.Lawrence Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11626386564817082992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-85937963985973248322019-11-21T22:40:57.257+13:002019-11-21T22:40:57.257+13:00Mark, thanks for the info.Mark, thanks for the info.Дмитрий Фоминhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03267502161299724334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-5540371644766464642019-11-21T22:01:20.710+13:002019-11-21T22:01:20.710+13:00Thanks Norm, glad you enjoyed it!Thanks Norm, glad you enjoyed it!Chasseurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04919997382932080898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4809892888059311958.post-37735302331649061792019-11-21T22:01:04.203+13:002019-11-21T22:01:04.203+13:00Thanks Dmitry, by 1812, the quality of the Polish ...Thanks Dmitry, by 1812, the quality of the Polish should be much better I think.
