Western European Buildings

Week 17 of backlog. This is a selection of resin buildings that I picked up and painted (well 3 of them), mostly in an estate sale of a local wargaming buddy who sadly died over a year ago now.

These buildings will supplement my existing Tabletop Workshop (now Warlord), range of plastic buildings.

I'm not sure of the providence of these two thatched buildings, if someone let's me know I will add the details! (EDIT - thanks for comment from Mark Strachan below, he made the one on the right for Military Miniatures Range approx 1990, now out of production).

I believe this building is from Steve Barber Models German Renaissance range. An impressive structure that takes some patience in painting with all the panels!

Lastly some of this range that was popular in the 2000's but now out of production. They came pre-painted and were a good price. Made from some sort of hard, but relatively brittle resin.

  1. Nice collection that will show nicely in your games.

  2. Lovely looking buildings especially the German renaissance one, I did notice driving through the cotswolds yesterday ( on one of googles short cuts!) That thatch tends to be more mid/dark brown, mainly for my reference as I realise one of mine is a bit too red and also as I was planning ( or is that daydreaming?) On finishing the dapol plastic church as a thatched dark age church!

    1. Thanks Iain, I think you're right and I should probably pick something browner, maybe I will give them a wash or two or repaint! They are lighter when newly thatched or rethachted from what I've seen but not as much when comparing e.g.

  5. They all look great Mark, and will make a nice addition to your games. I still much prefer resin to most MDF buildings.

  6. Nice but sad additions to the collection. Posties got tons of the buildings in the kast pic. I'm sure they're still available though. I've seen them at some shows, sold in a cardboard box with a plastic window.....can't for the life of me remember who was selling them though?

    1. Thanks Ray. Those last buildings I've looked everywhere for them online and what's left just seems to be old stock that is gradually reducing in availability. Also bugging me I can't remember the brand name!

  7. Mark, the thatched cottage with the wooden window boxes was one of my designs, circa 1990, for the old Military Miniatures range...long gone now.
