Bavarian Limbers - 28mm Perry

End of the week at last, and got around to taking some close up photos of the Bavarian Limbers from Perry.  A combination light blue-gray and deep sky-blue for the train driver uniforms and limbers. Perry also makes some variants with riders for the limber or caisson.

Once again the lead horses are based separately from the four horse teams.

Also started some slow assembly of more Victrix French figures to be painted up as Italians. But will be a while before they are done!

  1. Those Bavarian boys in the Uniform & Kit Dept really understood colour palettes & contrast - these are so pretty! Great work. Mind you Italian infantry can be rather pretty too...
    Stay safe, best wishes,

  7. They really look great; you are definitely staying "limber", my friend!
Did the Bavarian Train personnel have white uniforms? I haven't tried to paint my 2nd Lancashire Games model yet, so I haven't looked it up in decades, but I seem to recall at least the Funken plate had them in light grey faced light blue. Perhaps they are in the "summer uniform"?

    1. Cheers Peter! Light grey faced light blue is what I've gone with and not seen white uniforms for Bavarian train in my sources. The grey I've used is quite a light one mind, but darker than the white crossbelts if you look at that for contrast!

  8. Beautiful work Mark. You are a man not to compete against in an arms race thats for sure ;^). You have made me start looking at my old painted Foundry Bavarians who are sans limbers and in need of larger units of cavalry now. Bugger!

  10. Nicely done Mark. That driver leaning forward resting with the horse grazing is a great figure. I found the limbers quite fiddly to assemble.
