Bavarian Schuetzen - 28mm Perry

First of my Bavarians, some Schuetzen skirmisher bases. Some nice variety with these Perry figures with six different poses.

For the blue I went with Vallejo Prussian blue, highlighted with Vallejo Andreas Blue. This seems to be a popular choice for Bavarian Cornflower blue. Not as dark as other blue uniforms, but not as light as sky blue. It actually looks a bit darker than this in real life, especially from a distance!

  1. Nice! One of my favorite Napoleonic armies. From the photos, your blue looks just right.

  2. They look great, Mark, and I agree that the blue shade looks perfect. Are these from the later era when all of the regioments had red facings?

    1. Thanks Peter, and a 'yes' to your question meaning I got sick of doing piping on line infantry so ended up doing a bunch of just plain red facings for these and two of the four line regiments which will be posted once sorted! ;)

  5. Excellent work, I am examining my own Bavaria contingent to expand the French and allied forces.

You look to have nailed the difficult cornflower blue very well.

  6. Great work Mark - I have always been tempted by Bavarians - I had a big pile of old Minifigs ones at one point but decided against investing a lot of my time in painting very average (by todays standards) figures....I also started doing Bavarians for the Franco Prussian War but pulled out after painting 40 or 50...really like the Raupenhelm and the sharp blue coats!

  8. Good work, lovely shade of blue.
Do know what, I wish the Perry models had the same "cute" as the Foundry ones by the same Perry twins, they just seem more charming BUT too damn small these days.
    Best wishes,
    Jeremy
