Russian Mounted Jager - Perry 28mm

Week 15 of Backlog. Two units of Russian Mounted Jagers from Perry. Eight regiments of these were converted from Dragoons in December 1812 to provide more light cavalry.

Here is the Dorpat regiment with crimson/pink facings. For this I used Vallejo Game Colour Warlord Purple.

And with the orange facings, this is Sieversk Regiment. For the orange I used Vallejo Game Colour Dwarf Skin, which seemed a good match for the slightly pinky orange colour shown in the Perry guide.

A great kit from Perry, that lets you make Russian Dragoons or Mounted Jager, or Prussian Dragoons, and with kitbashes from other kits a whole range of other units. Plus you get enough bodies to make an entire extra unit if you purchase some extra horses from Perry.

Russian Horse Limbers - Commissar 28mm

Week 14 of backlog, here are two Russian Horse Artillery Limbers, from Commissar Miniatures. I painted these up for our Leipzig refight last year, as Russian players didn't have limbers and I like at least horse artillery to have these!

There are a lack of companies making these unfortunately, though I guess you could do head swaps on Perry or something. See my previous post on Commissar Miniatures for more details of these ones, though given the tragic Ukrainian war these are sadly unlikely to be viable option at the present time.
These are the first of my Napoleonic Russians to be painted, though many more are planned...

More French Generals - Perry 28mm

Weekly backlog posting for week 13, and here are some more French Generals. I didn't really need extra generals, but when Perry released these I thought it would add more character to refight games to have the proper figures respresenting distinctive generals like Lasalle, plus Lannes, and the others are nice to have as well.

In the front row left to right we have Generals Franceschi-Dalone, Lasalle, Pully and Pajol.

In the rear row we have with Fournier-Farloveze with a Mameluke musician (this figure from Gringo's 40) and Marshal Lannes with an ADC.

Quite a varied range of clothing adornes these generals, in true French fashion!

These figures also involve the challenge of trying to approximate the markings of the various large cats that comprise much of the horse furniture!

Hopefully we will see some more characters being released - especially Davout!

French Imperial Guard Cavalry Extras - Gringo 40 & Perry 28mm

Week 12 of the backlog is some extra cavalry squadrons for the French Imperial  Guard. These are units that were usually not present in large numbers, and so attached to other units. They will help balance out the numbers and organisations when I'm trying to create some of the complicated cavalry formations that exist in the 1813 period in particular. Most are Gringo 40 miniatures, and one group Perry.

First up we have the Mamelukes of the Guard, from Gringo 40. These served with Napoleon from 1801-15, joining after his Egyptian campaign. They were light cavalry in squadron strength, typically serving with the Chasseurs a Cheval of the Guard. Gringo 40 make a very nice range of these, and so I picked these four figures, plus another couple that are mounted with generals.

Next we have Berg Lancers, who actually existed in greater numbers and variety of uniform at times, but what we have here is a squadron as may have been attached to the Red Lancers (Dutch), during 1813 orders of battle. I may expand this to a full unit at some point! These are Gringo 40 lancers, not quite right due to epaulettes I think but closest figures I could find.

Next are Lithuanian Tartars from Gringo 40. Only existing as a squadron from 1812-1814, they were attached to other Guard Cavalry Regiments and very reduced in number over time.

Lastly, here are Gendarmes d'Elite in Bearskin. These provided high ranking security for the Emperor and other individuals, with some of them also being involved in combat during 1812 and 1813 in particular. A squadron was sometimes brigaded with other Guard Cavalry, such as the the Grenadiers a Cheval. These are Perry figures. There is also another variant available with helmets. The other two figures from the twok packs to make these, are based together with Guard generals.

Ok that's another week of backlog ticked off, thanks for looking!

You can see my six units of Guard Cavalry here.
