French Imperial Guard Cavalry Extras - Gringo 40 & Perry 28mm

Week 12 of the backlog is some extra cavalry squadrons for the French Imperial  Guard. These are units that were usually not present in large numbers, and so attached to other units. They will help balance out the numbers and organisations when I'm trying to create some of the complicated cavalry formations that exist in the 1813 period in particular. Most are Gringo 40 miniatures, and one group Perry.

First up we have the Mamelukes of the Guard, from Gringo 40. These served with Napoleon from 1801-15, joining after his Egyptian campaign. They were light cavalry in squadron strength, typically serving with the Chasseurs a Cheval of the Guard. Gringo 40 make a very nice range of these, and so I picked these four figures, plus another couple that are mounted with generals.

Next we have Berg Lancers, who actually existed in greater numbers and variety of uniform at times, but what we have here is a squadron as may have been attached to the Red Lancers (Dutch), during 1813 orders of battle. I may expand this to a full unit at some point! These are Gringo 40 lancers, not quite right due to epaulettes I think but closest figures I could find.

Next are Lithuanian Tartars from Gringo 40. Only existing as a squadron from 1812-1814, they were attached to other Guard Cavalry Regiments and very reduced in number over time.

Lastly, here are Gendarmes d'Elite in Bearskin. These provided high ranking security for the Emperor and other individuals, with some of them also being involved in combat during 1812 and 1813 in particular. A squadron was sometimes brigaded with other Guard Cavalry, such as the the Grenadiers a Cheval. These are Perry figures. There is also another variant available with helmets. The other two figures from the twok packs to make these, are based together with Guard generals.
