Week 7 of backlog posting, and here are two Austrian Landwehr battalions. These are made from the Victrix Austrian Landwehr kit. This is just the Austrian Infantry with Corsehut headgear instead of helment or shako, that I mentioned last week is one of my favourites.
I've painted these ones up in earlier 1809 colours, with green jackets, and red facings (Duchy of Kärnten Landwehr) for one unit, and yellow facings (Duchy of Salzburg Landwehr) for the other.
I've just kept the standard Landwehr Corsehut headgear these figures come with. Some pictures show a variety of headgear like tophats but not game to try that conversion!
These join my other six Landwehr battalions which are Perry and done in the later 1813 grey uniform (though facing colours vary). They can be seen here.
Next week, a more unusual Austrian unit... ;)

Very nice indeed, going with the earlier uniform makes for two very colourful battalions, the facings on both make the figures really "pop". Superb additions to your lovely Austrian army.
ReplyDeleteCheers Donnie, yes the earlier Landwehr are certainly more colourful and interesting!
DeleteNicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI do love backlog postings Mark, although it does have the effect of making one feel inadequate. Lovely stuff, and I can't wait to see the next batch (I've already been over this lot twice).
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence - looking back I see I haven't posted anything but Napoleonic battle reports on this blog since 2022 (was really focused on doing some big games, plus work stuff), so it is actually three years of painting that I'm posting if that helps at all! :)
DeleteIt definitely does Mark, as I'm now feeling slightly less inadequate.
DeleteGreat looking Landwehr! Mine are in 1809 uniforms too of course! Just ordered three boxes of Perry plastic Spanish, whoops a new army!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Ah yes those are very nice new Spanish! And thanks!
